soundSCAPE festival

Nathanael May is the Artistic Director of the annual soundSCAPE composition and performance exchange; a festival celebrating new music in Italy. The event originated as the Cortona Contemporary Music Festival, which was founded by Nathanael in 2005. In 2008, the festival moved to Pavia and was hosted by the Vittadini Institute of Music in Pavia. The 2010 season will be in the northern lake town of Maccagno, in the Italian Alps, just kilometers from the border of Switzerland.

soundSCAPE facilitates the exchange of new music, ideas, and culture between musicians of tomorrow's generation. The festival provides composers and musicians an international platform for performances of new music, attracting participants from around the world for two weeks of lectures, master classes, and workshops. soundSCAPE nurtures the formation of lifelong networks, resulting in future commissions, performances, and careers.
